About

I am an environmental communications, outreach, and advocacy strategist based in upstate New York. I help environmental organizations and mission-aligned institutions tell their story clearly, urgently, and with heart to encourage action through connection and invitation.

I have an M.A. in Environmental Journalism, and a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. I’ve been engaged in Cornell University’s NYS Master Naturalist program for four years, and have 15 years of experience working in environmental movement communications, outreach, and advocacy in New York and nationally.

Why For the Birds?

First, this communications studio is literally for protecting the birds and all other sentient beings. But, in reality, while I love birds, people must be the first and foremost priority in a successful movement, especially ensuring a just transition for those who have been disproportionately impacted by centuries of injustice.

Second, it’s funny, and I believe we need more whimsy and irreverence in environmental advocacy. Our natural world is dying, and it’s terrifying to witness but we can’t let it only be serious. We need to laugh often to stay in the work.

And third, as a child, my father spat these words at me — “that’s for the effing birds!” — to dismiss my feelings and make me feel small. I’m reclaiming them to turn something painful into something joyful and expressive. I will bring this same approach to our work together in communicating about environmental crises.
